Singles and Doubles – Exercise 2

This exercise combines the two most commonly used rudiments – single strokes and doubles strokes. Why is this useful? Because the vast majority of other things you’ll play on a kit are formed of these two rudiments. When playing fills and ghost note patterns within grooves, it’s almost always singles and doubles.

We’re going to play 16th notes as singles for a bar, then 16th notes as double-strokes – so the singles and doubles are played at the same speed.
