Exercise 1 – Half the work
In this lesson, we’re going to take the exercise from lesson 1 and cut it in half. We’re going to switch the right and left hands every bar instead of every two bars. Sounds easy, right? What this is going to do is force us to get used to quickly transitioning the 3/2 feel from our dominant hand to our non-dominant hand (right to left or left to right).

Exercise 2 – Speed up to 140bpm
Either play along with me or play along with your own metronome. Repeat this exercise for as long as you need to make sure it’s nice and clean before speeding up again.
Exercise 3 – Let’s go! 180bpm
This final step can be remarkably tricky. If you’re comfortable playing the exercise up to this speed, then the first few bars will likely feel fine, but watch what happens around the 6th or 7th repetition – it’s very easy to slip out of time or mess the pattern up entirely. The remedy to this: practice, practice, practice! again, if 180bpm is too fast, jump up in 10bpm increments. If you can do this consistently and comfortably, faster than 180bpm, then you’re well on the path to becoming a legendary drummer, and I’ll be in touch if I need someone to take over my spot in TesseracT.
