Double Stroke Groove

This is a progression from the alternating double stroke exercise.

In this lesson, I’ll show you how you can start to use double strokes within the context of a groove. Ultimately, we want to be able to use double strokes wherever and however we want behind the kit, and this is just one example, but this example is a great way to realize how effective they can be when used dynamically within a groove.

This is going to work on our ghost note dynamic control and timing.

Really focus on getting the ghost notes quiet and the accents to pop. Dynamics are the key to making a groove like this work.
